24 people named to Leadership Wayne

Twenty-four leaders from industry, government and service agencies have been chosen as the newest members of Leadership Wayne County.
The men and women, from a variety of businesses and organizations from across the county, gathered for their opening retreat the weekend of Sept. 16 as part of the first of several meetings designed to introduce the group to the program and each other.
In addition, class members participated in a variety of leadership training activities and started making plans for the year at the leadership retreat, which was conducted at Camp Seafarer.
Those selected for the class of 2005-06 include:

* Joe DePalantino of Wayne Memorial Hospital.
* Mike DiGiacomo of Hilex Poly.
* Diane Holzworth of Strickland Insurance.
* Dan Huth of Cooper Bussmann.
* Dennis Ivey of North Carolina Natural Gas.
* Kevin Johnson of the NC Cooperative Extension.
* Juanita Joseph of Family Support at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
* Josh McCullen of Jersey Mike's.
* Debbie Pittman of Pittman Price Co.
* David Poythress of the Wayne County Partnership for Children.
* Dean Sauls of the Wayne County Public Schools.
* Carla Stafford of the Wayne County Partnership for Children.

From October 2005 through April 2006, the class will meet the third Friday of each month for educational and enrichment sessions that offer an inside look into Wayne County and that provide insight to community involvement opportunities.
In addition, class members will participate in board training sessions, which is a new component to leadership training. Class members also will choose, design and implement a community project that will further enhance Wayne County and its citizens. Upon successful completion of the program year, class members will graduate in May 2006.
Leadership Wayne County's goal is to create a corps of leaders who are dedicated to the betterment of the community through service. The program is designed to assist emerging leaders as well as individuals who have demonstrated leadership potential to prepare them for leadership positions in local business, industry, non-profit and community and governmental affairs.
