A tractor-trailer truck, loaded with peanuts, overturned Monday in the cloverleaf interchange at West Grantham Street and Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 West and U.S. 117 intersection, snarling traffic for hours, Goldsboro police said. The trucker, Sidney Clark Horne, 34, of Chadbourn, was not injured. He was charged with exceeding a safe speed. The speed limit on the ramp is 15 mph. Police estimated the truck's speed at 30 mph, based on evidence from the 10:30 a.m. wreck. Damage was estimated at $40,000 to the 1998 Peterbilt rig that was registered to Bryan S. Gore of Tabor City. Edwards Truck Service of Goldsboro uprighted the tractor-trailer. Firefighters and others needed about three hours to clear the interchange of spilled peanuts and other debris.
