Drug charges
Three people were arrested Thursday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with felony drug offenses after anonymous calls to Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers.
Kenneth Charles McRae, 22, and Tiffany Gail Tomlin, 20, were arrested after a search of their apartment on Alpha Court. Officers seized about $12,640 worth of marijuana.
McRae was charged with trafficking in cocaine by possession, trafficking in cocaine by manufacturing, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling cocaine and marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ms. Tomlin was charged with trafficking in cocaine by possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling cocaine and marijuana.
McRae was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $500,000 secured bond. Ms. Tomlin was jailed in lieu of a $250,000 secured bond.
State Alcohol Law Enforcement Division officers assisted in the search.
Robert Allen Lewis, 62, was arrested after a search of his home on Devereaux Street.
Lewis was charged with maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana and two misdemeanors, gambling and possession of alcoholic beverages for sale without a permit. He was jailed in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
More charges
One of two men arrested Tuesday after a chase and a gunfight with authorities on New Hope Road now faces more charges.
Korey Vashon Hill, 29, of Daly Boulevard, Mount Olive, was charged with five felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a law-enforcement officer and one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
The charges were filed after Hill and Anthony Juan Davis, 34, of Franklin Street, Mount Olive, exchanged gunshots with two Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad officers on New Hope Road. They were eventually apprehended, charged with numerous felony drug violations and jailed.
Hill's secured bond was increased by $70,000 to $570,000. Davis also remained jailed in lieu of a $500,000 secured bond.
Woman robbed
A woman returning home before dawn today was robbed of her purse that contained a payroll check, another check, $52 and personal papers, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported.
Wanda Kaye Kelly, 40, of Odom Farm Road, Dudley, told deputies that a small black man grabbed the purse from her shoulder, knocking her to the ground. The purse and other property was valued at $566.
Ms. Kelly was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released.
Assaulted
A 20-year-old Goldsboro man was cut Thursday by a woman in her home in the 200 block of Rosewood Avenue, a Goldsboro police report said.
Antonio Kelvin McLean of Central Heights Road told officers that he was arguing with the woman at about 6 a.m. The woman took their daughter, picked up a knife and went out the back door, the report said. When he said he tried to stop her, she turned around and cut him.
McLean was taken to Wayne Memorial, where he was treated and released, a spokeswoman said.
Burglary
A woman heard several men kick in a door Thursday night at her home on Daffodil Drive and then steal an estimated $7,000 worth of jewelry, according to a report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Tiffany Robin Artis reported that she heard the intruders, hid in her home and called 911. She heard the suspects shout, "Someone's in here," and then they fled outside.
Three black men fled in a burgundy car. One was described as being in his 30s, 6 feet tall and 240 pounds with long black hair in an afro. He wore a gray T-shirt and blue jeans.
The intruders had inflicted about $300 in damages to the door, deputies said.
Break-ins
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*An engine, four clutches and 10 bearings were stolen between Wednesday and Thursday from Top Motor Sales at 1604 N. William St., Goldsboro police said. The thief had removed the power box to shut off the alarm, the report said, tried to force open the front door but failed, and then smashed a door glass to get inside. The stolen property was valued at $445 and damage was set at $100.
*A thief broke a window and then smashed a gumball machine and stole the coins between Wednesday and Thursday at Perkins Motor Parts at 1107 S. George St., police said. About $20 in coins was stolen. Damages were put at $75.
*Four televisions and video-game equipment were stolen between Sept. 5 and Thursday from a home in the 200 block of Lee's Country Club Road, sheriff's deputies said. The property, owned by Stanley Peacock of New York, was valued at $1,200. The electric meter had been removed and telephone wires cut, the report said.
