Mobile home fire
A mobile home at 211 Mobile Circle, Dudley, was destroyed Sunday night in a fire of undetermined causes, officials said.
The home was used by the owner, Robert Boyer of Pennsylvania, as a summer home, Arrington Volunteer Fire Chief Randy Rogers said.
"The guys did a real good job," Rogers said "The home was burned up when we got there. They did a good job in preventing other structures" from being burned.
Rogers said the home was searched thoroughly to make sure no one was inside. The home was valued at about $8,000 and contents were valued at about $1,000, the chief said.
Fifteen Arrington firefighters answered the 9:10 p.m. alarm with four trucks and needed more than four hours to put out the fire, investigate the cause and finish salvage work. Twelve Mar Mac firefighters assisted with four trucks.
Driver charged
A driver from Kinston was arrested Sunday night by authorities after a two-county, high-speed chase from Lenoir County to Goldsboro and back to Lenoir County, officials said.
Michelle Marie Ellis, 25, was fleeing from Lenoir County sheriff's deputies and the Highway Patrol. Police Maj. Mike Hopper said Ms. Ellis turned on Oak Forest Road, Central Heights, Berkeley Boulevard, Spence Avenue and Cuyler Best Road before returning toward Lenoir County.
During the chase, the sport utility vehicle that she was driving collided with a pickup truck at North Berkeley Boulevard and Cashwell Drive, Goldsboro police said.
The other driver, Tavaras Nevon McDougald, 18, of Gurley Dairy Road, Pikeville, was turning at about 7 p.m. when the SUV passed the pickup on the wrong side of the road, the police report said.
Neither driver was injured, police said. But the pickup that McDougald was driving sustained about $2,000 in damages.
Ms. Ellis was driving a SUV registered to Donald Lewis Whaley of Kinston. She faces numerous charges, including hit and run and reckless driving offenses that were to be filed by Goldsboro police.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Ninety DVD movies, two gold necklaces, a gold diamond ring, a gold bracelet and $400 were stolen Friday after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Willard Lane, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, Marian J. Aldrich, estimated the value of the stolen property at $4,760, in addition to the cash, and set damage at $300.
*A cash register with $240 was stolen Saturday after a door glass was smashed at the pro shop at Southern Wayne Country Club, deputies said. The register was valued at $300. Damage was put at $300.
*A silver, four-door 2005 Ford Explorer was stolen Saturday from the 100 block of Overton Lane near PIkeville, deputies said. The owner, DeKarlos Unseld Hamilton, put a $32,000 value on the sport utility vehicle.
*A blue 1999 Yamaha motorcycle was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from the 200 block of Blue Ridge Drive, deputies said. The owner, Norman Keith Sites of Dudley, said the bike was worth $4,300.
*Lumber was stolen between Thursday and Friday from a construction site in the 1100 block of Airport Road, deputies said. The owner, Marty L. Massey of Pikeville, put a $1,320 value on it.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Gunshots damaged a wall and a clock Saturday night at a home in the 800 block of Olivia Lane, police said. The resident, E. Phillips, estimated damages at $100.
*A gray 1999 Chevrolet Suburban and a gold Cadillac DeVille were stolen between Saturday and dawn today from Lighthouse Motor Sales at 706 Corporate Drive, police said. The thieves had damaged a door to the office and took the vehicle keys from a filing cabinet. The vehicles were valued at $21,400. Damage was put at $300.
*A brown, four-door 1990 Ford Tempo was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from the 100 block of Astor Court, police said. The car, valued at $1,200, was left unlocked, and the owner, Joewand D. Jennings of Goldsboro, said a key was not needed to start it.
Drug charge
A Goldsboro teenager was arrested before dawn today on Benton Street and charged with a felony drug offense.
Derrick Jerone Wooten, 17, of West Lockhaven Drive was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and resisting arrest. He was released from custody on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
Missing
A 15-year-old boy was reported missing Saturday by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Jordan Ray Flanagan of 103 Grand St., Pikeville, was described as biracial, 5-feet-9 and 125 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
When he was seen last at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, he was wearing a gray shirt, camouflage pants and black shoes. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
