Following up on their plea to the public last week for help for victims of Hurricane Katrina, city officials are planning a new fundraiser.
The city of Goldsboro will partner with Oldies 107.9 Wednesday to secure donations for hurricane victims.
The fundraiser, called "Bellies and Butts," has been designed to provide necessities for the youngest disaster victims, very young children and infants.
Diapers, wipes, powder, formula and baby food will be collected outside City Hall. "Bellies and Butts" marks the first of many events spearheaded by members of Goldsboro City Council in their effort to aid victims of Katrina.
In addition to donation of goods, the Red Cross still needs cash and blood, as well as new volunteers. Earlier this week, Mayor Al King challenged the community to donate whatever they can.
"We need to do something," King said.
