Correction
State Sen. John Kerr said a penny of the increased cigarette tax should bring the state about $7 million in new money, not $70 million, as was reported Monday. He said the 30-cent increase might bring a total of about $118 million in new money -- if everybody doesn't quit smoking and if all of the out-of-state people "pass JR's on I-95 and buy their cigarettes at South of the Border."
