A 23-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night by his father during an argument in their home, according to a report filed by Goldsboro police.
The victim, identified as Henry Alva Rudisill, was wounded at about 6 p.m. at 306 N. Leslie St.
The father, Warren Allen Rudisill, 67, was at the home when police officers and investigators arrived a few minutes later. Rudisill was taken to the Police Department for questioning. No charges had been filed this morning.
"We're looking at all aspects of the shooting to determine if it were intentional, self-defense or accidental," police Sgt. David Kelly said today.
Kelly said a decision on whether the father is charged may come as early as this afternoon. He said both men had firearms.
"We're trying to analyze the evidence that has been collected to determine what had occurred," Kelly said.
The body was taken to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.
Kelly said no other incidents between the two men had been reported to police.
Investigators G.N. Lynch, Mike Horstmann and Mike Moore were working on the case. Some evidence is being analyzed by the State Bureau of Investigation.
