Bloodmobile
The Wayne County chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Berkeley Mall. Donors will receive a Red Cross wristband and an Adam's Auto coupon for a free car wash.
Storyteller to perform
Professional storyteller and musician Ron Jones will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wayne County Public Library on Ash Street. Jones, a former children's librarian, performs throughout the Southeast in libraries, schools, museums, and at storytelling festivals.
"I grew up on a dairy farm in North Carolina, in a whole family of storytellers," Jones said. "After 25 years as a children's librarian and administrator I finally decided to hit the road as a full time professional storyteller."
Jones often involves the audience in his stories and songs.
Saturday's event is part of the "Dragons, Dreams, and Daring Deeds Summer Reading Program."
