Stolen car yields
drugs, 2 arrests
An investigation of an abandoned vehicle on Friday led to the arrest of two men and the discovery of drugs by the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies found the vehicle in a field in Pricetown, they determined that it was registered to Kevin Lee Jones Jr. of Deep Run. Then they discovered that Jones was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant in Lenoir County.
Moments later, Jones returned to the vehicle while riding with another man in a pickup truck. Deputies stopped the truck, took Jones into custody and found methamphetamine in the pickup.
The driver, Jamie Lynn Stroud, 36, of N.C. 111, Seven Springs, was arrested and charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $1,500 secured bond.
Jones was turned over to Lenoir County authorities. He was later jailed in Kinston in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.
Pizza man robbed
A man delivering pizza was robbed Friday night of an unknown amount of money and three calculators by three black men and a black woman, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Michael Darrell McCrae, 43, told officers that he had stopped at 9:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Bright Street to deliver a pizza from the Pizza Inn restaurant on Norwood Avenue.
McCrae said the suspects approached him, and one had a handgun and another displayed a shotgun, the report said. The suspects demanded McCrae's cash and ordered him to get on the ground.
McCrae was struck in the head, and a shot was fired, the report said. The suspects took the cash and calculators and fled. McCrae could not describe the suspects further.
Teens charged
A fourth teenager has been arrested by Goldsboro police and charged with felony offenses in connection with a break-in at the Fairview Community Center at 1906 Edgerton St.
Joseph Decore Simms, 16, of South Audubon Avenue was charged with breaking and entering and larceny. The break-in occurred July 5. Simms was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 secured bond.
Two juveniles also were charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. They were not identified because of their ages.
Police Officer T.L. Collins of the Housing Authority unit said more than $3,000 worth of stolen property has been recovered.
Police also arrested Tyree Resean Davis, 16, of Taylor Street on July 21 and charged him with breaking and entering and larceny in the same case.
Stalking charges
A man from Tennessee was arrested Friday by Goldsboro police and charged with two felony counts of stalking against his estranged wife and her mother.
Michael Edward Wright was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $150,000 secured bond.
Goldsboro police Sgt. David Kelly said Wright had violated a domestic violence protective order by continuing to harass and stalk the two women. The case involved law agencies from Tennessee, New York and Florida, the N.C. Department of Corrections and the Wayne County District Attorney's Office.
Car larceny
A 33-year-old man was arrested Friday by Goldsboro police and charged with felony possession of a stolen car.
James Albert Skinner IV of N.C. 42 West, Kenly, was accused of stealing a car in Wilson County. He was asleep in the car in the 1700 block of East Ash Street, where he was arrested by Officer Richard Nash. Skinner was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
The 1997 Dodge Intrepid was registered to Mildred B. Grant of Kenly.
Collision
Damages were estimated at $7,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 1:28 p.m. Friday at West Grantham and North James streets, Goldsboro police reported.
A northbound driver, Sylvia Lee Lewis, 53, of Central Heights Road, was charged with a safe-movement violation at a stop sign. The report said her car collided with an eastbound pickup truck. The other motorist was listed as Janice N. Jamison, 61, of Old Grantham Road.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A 27-inch television, an entertainment system, a video game system and a computer were stolen between Friday and Saturday form a home in the 100 block of Countryview Lane, police said. The thief had thrown a brick through a window to get inside. The resident, Linda L. Kujawa, put a $1,850 value on the property.
*A 27-inch television, a black leather jacket, clothing, DVD movies and movie tapes were stolen between Wednesday and Saturday from an apartment in the 800 block of North Harding Drive, police said. The resident, James L. Green Jr., said his property was worth more than $1,120. No sign of forced entry was reported.
*A red 1988 GMC pickup truck was stolen Friday night from the 100 block of North Slocumb Street, police said. The owner and resident, Vasdaile Faison, put a $1,500 value on the truck.
