The Partnership for Children of Wayne County has added 58 More at Four slots for the upcoming programming year. That brings the total of children served to 468, a 14.2 percent increase from last year and an increase of 867 percent since its inception in 2002.
The More at Four program is Governor Easley's free preschool initiative that serves eligible at-risk 4-year-olds. Children must have turned 4 on or before October 16th.
The 58 additional slots will allow the partnership to open up three new classrooms. These will be located at Tommy's Road Elementary, Kids and Company Child Care and Wee Are the World Child Care.
The additional slots will also allow for the expansion of two existing classrooms, at Wonderland and Royall Avenue Head Start.
Applications for enrollment are available at Carver Elementary, Fremont STARS, Happy Days Child Care, Kids & Company, Rhyme University, Small World Child Care, Tommy's Road Elementary, Wonderland Child Care and Wee Are the World.
Applications can also be completed at the partnership office, 800 N. William Street, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, contact Valerie Wallace at 735-3371, ext. 231.
