The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive Thursday from 2:30 to 7 p.m. at Oak Forest Road Church of Christ. Donors will receive a Red Cross wristband, a coupon for a free car wash and a one-week pass to Gold's Gym.
Street resurfacing
bid approved by city
The Goldsboro City Council approved a bid of $949,001 from the Coastal Carolina Division of APAC-Atlantic, Inc. of Kinston to do the job of resurfacing 50 streets in the city Monday night.
Also bidding on the project was Greenville Paving & Contracting, Inc. of Greenville.
The Greenville Paving & Contracting bid was more than $1 million.
Portions of Spence Avenue, Walnut Street, James Street, William Street,, Virginia Street, Slocumb Street, Mulberry Street, Cashwell Drive, Oleander Avenue, North Drive, Beech Street, South Drive, Birch Drive, Monroe Lane and Courtney Road will be resurfaced.
Street bonds are available to help pay for the project.
