The News-Argus has named Steve Roush as its new sports editor.

Roush replaces Neil Fuller, whose family was transferred out of town.

Roush, who has worked at daily newspapers in Ohio and Georgia since 1997, has won numerous journalism awards for sportswriting, page design, column writing, photography and community service.

He received his bachelor’s degree in 1996 from Ohio State University, and later earned a master’s degree in journalism from the school in 2002. As a graduate student, Roush was a teaching assistant and a lecturer at OSU, teaching a reporting and editing class.

From there, Roush served two years as the executive sports editor of The Griffin Daily News in Georgia, before spending the past year as assistant editor of The Times-Gazette in Hillsboro, Ohio.

Roush said he is looking forward to getting to know the community and hearing readers’ ideas and comments.

“I know there are many different sports our readers are interested in,” Roush said. “I am looking forward to giving them that traditional mix, plus more national and collegiate coverage. I want there to be something for every fan in our pages.”

Steve and his wife, Helen, live in Goldsboro.
