Singing Convention set for June 24-26

BENSON -- The Eighty-fifth State Annual Singing Convention will be Friday through Sunday, June 24-26, at the city park on East Main Street.
The following groups will present 30-minute concerts on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m.: The Church of God Victory Voices of Erwin, Janice and Joshua Harrell of Wallace, The Believers Quartet of Dunn, The Blythe Family of Greensboro, The Believers Quartet of Sumter, S.C., and Stillwater Quartet of Fayetteville. There will be no competition on Friday night.
The Steeles will be featured in a concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, and Mercy's Mark will be in concert on Sunday afternoon, immediately following the competition, at approximately 4 p.m.
The singing will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday and the worship service will be held at 9 on Sunday morning. The Rev. R.B. Parrish and the choir from Friendly Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church will lead the service.
Amateur groups, including junior and senior choirs, duets, trios, quartets and family groups are invited to compete for trophies on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. Due to time restraints, there will be no solos.

Those attending are encouraged to take lawn chairs.
The State Annual Singing Convention is a non-profit organization and all officers, directors and staff are volunteers.
