Armed holdups
A convenience store clerk and a pizza delivery man were robbed in separate, night-time armed holdups, according to Goldsboro police reports. The robbers were described as being 17 to 19 years old.
A woman clerk told police that two young men entered the Savemore store at 1903 E. Ash St. at about 3:45 a.m. today. They displayed a weapon, took about $220, cigarettes and cigars and ran.
The gunman was described as wearing a black coat. The other suspect could not be described.
The delivery man reported that he stopped at about 9:50 p.m. Sunday in a parking lot in the 1700 block of South Slocumb Street, where two young men displayed a handgun, stole $50 and a pizza, valued at $24.33, and fled.
The gunman was described as being about 5-foot-5 and 165 pounds with a thin build and black hair. He wore a white shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. The other suspect was not described.
Five hurt in wrecks
Five people were injured and damages were estimated at $51,400 in eight recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, law officers reported.
*Both drivers were injured and damages were estimated at $9,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at East Elm and South Best streets. John Arron Runkle, 26, of South Andrews Avenue and Walter Smith III, 23, of Acreview Drive were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Runkle, was charged with a stoplight violation.
*Damages were put at $8,500 in a two-car wreck at 7:53 p.m. Sunday on New Hope Road near Vinewood Avenue. Gwanna Wlyeshia Muchison, 32, of Eastwood Drive, LaGrange, was charged with exceeding a safe speed.
*A bicyclist was injured and damages were estimated at $5,500 in a three-vehicle crash at 6 a.m. Saturday in a parking lot in the 400 block of West Seymour Drive. Boris Lamont Phillips, 34, of East Maple Street was released after emergency-room treatment. Darryl Jesson Williams, 16, of Timber Hollow Place, Dudley, was charged with felony and misdemeanor hit and run, no operator's license and second-degree trespass. Phillips told police that Williams' rental van jumped the curb, struck Phillips and a porch, then backed into a parked car and fled.
*A driver was injured in a two-car wreck at 8 a.m. Saturday on South Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 117 bypass, near West Elm Street. Jose Luis Cannizales Herrera, 25, of Al Drive, Seven Springs, was released after emergency-room treatment. Robert Bernard Jones, 87, of Garner Chapel Road, Mount Olive, was charged with failure to reduce speed. Damages were set at $3,500.
*Damages were estimated at $10,300 in a three-vehicle collision at 12:52 p.m. Friday at East Ash and North Jackson streets. Myriam Azucema Jiminez, 26, of Fayetteville and Jerry Mathew Foster, 20, of Jacksonville, were charged with safe-movement violations after the rear-end collision.
*A man was thrown from a moped in a collision with a car at 8:53 p.m. May 9 on Beston Drive near Sun Valley Drive,. Eric Gum, 18, of Echo Drive, LaGrange, was listed today in critical condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. The driver of the car, Jesse Paul Smith, 24, of Malcolm Glenn Lane, LaGrange, had started to pass the moped, the report said, as Gum started to make a left turn. No charges have been filed. Damages were set at $3,900.
*Damages were estimated at $5,200 in a two-vehicle wreck at 5:14 p.m. May 9 on Airport Road near Lancaster Road. Patrick Dean Pender, 38, of Davis Street Extension, Fremont, was charged with failure to secure a trailer. The SUV struck a pothole, dislodging the trailer, the report said. Then the trailer crossed the center line and struck an oncoming van driven by Christie Michelle Price, 31, of Jones Street, Eureka.
Theft
A computer, a monitor, two compact disc players, a set of weights, two remote controls and two knives were stolen between May 4 and Saturday from a home in the 100 block of Morgan Circle, Wayne County sheriff's deputies said.
The thief had pried open a door to get inside. The owner, Angela Marie Scantick of Colonial Heights, Va., estimated the value of the stolen property at $2,520 and damage at $50.
Furniture theft
A 40-year-old Goldsboro man has been arrested by the Goldsboro Police Department's Selective Enforcement Unit and charged with three felony offenses in connection with a residential break-in.
Robert Earl Newsome of North Carolina Street was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen property. He was accused of stealing furniture from a home in the 300 block of North Virginia Street. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
Missing
Two teen-agers were reported missing Sunday by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
*Kevin M. Hoke, 16, of Raeford was described as white, 6-feet-1 and 170 pounds with short blond hair and blue eyes. When he was seen last at 5:30 p.m. Friday, no clothing description was available. He may be staying in Wayne County with relatives.
*Jennifer June Stephens, 16, of 2353 U.S. 13 North was described as Asian, 5-feet-4 and 130 pounds with light brown hair and brown eyes. She was seen last at 2 p.m. Saturday. No clothing description was available.
Anyone with information on either person was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
