One hurt in 3-vehicle wreck today

An unloaded 18-wheeler hit the rear end of a 1995 Nissan sedan about 7:30 a.m. today resulting in a three-vehicle accident and injury to one driver on U.S. 117 North just south of the N.C. 581 intersection, according to N.C. Trooper R.W. Overton.
The driver of the 1996 International truck, Ray Thompson of 203 Beaver Road, Dudley, was charged with failure to reduce speed.
The driver of the car, Karen Lee Wilder of Sleepy Creek Road, Dudley, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Nissan was pushed into a pickup truck and trailer driven by David Stevens of 2061 Davis Mill Road. The pickup was pushed into a ditch, but Stevens escaped injury.
Damage was estimated at $4,000 to the 18-wheeler, $3,000 to the Nissan and $8,000 to the pickup and trailer.
