Fires
*A fire on Monday destroyed a storage building behind a welding shop at 200 Pelt Road, a Little River Fire Department official said today. Fire Chief Wayne Aycock said Pikeville firefighters were first at the scene. The cause of the fire has not been determined. The value of the building was not determined.
*Unnattended cooking was blamed Monday evening for a kitchen fire at 105 Courtyard Circle in Goldsboro. No one was injured at the Inez Briggs apartment. Goldsboro Fire Department Lt. Richard Walker said the fire caused about $800 in damages to the stove and cabinets.
Driver hurt
A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $25,950 Monday in two traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $20,250 in a three-vehicle collision at 6:55 p.m. Monday at Patetown Road, Eleanor Avenue and the entrance to Wayne Christian School, police said. Amber L. Long, 22, of Saulston Road was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Another driver, Lynwood Earl Boyette, 69, of East Holly Street, was charged with failure to reduce speed. A northbound driver, Barbara A. Sheldon, 49, of Salem Church Road, was stopped to make a left turn to the school. The report said Boyette's van then collided with the rear of the car that Ms. Sheldon was driving and ricocheted into the southbound auto that Ms. Long was driving.
*Damages were estimated at $5,700 in a two-vehicle crash at 11:33 a.m. Monday in the traffic circle at Ash and Center streets, police said. A westbound driver, Valerie Stark, 59, of Weather Vane Toad, Pikeville, was charged with a yield violation. Police said her sport utility vehicle collided with a northbound car driven by Willie Edward Blizzard, 68, of Old Grantham Road.
Vehicles stolen
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A burgundy and cream 1979 GMC Scottsdale pickup truck with a black camper shell was stolen between Sunday and Monday from the 3000 block of Big Daddy's Road. Brent Allen Tyndall put a $1,500 value on the pickup.
*A gray, four-door 2003 Mitsubishi Galant was stolen between Sunday and Monday from the 600 block of Prince Avenue. A.L. Hayes of Goldsboro said the car was worth $13,000.
Accessory
A Goldsboro teen-ager has pleaded guilty in Wayne County Superior Court to being an accessory after last year's armed robbery of New Century Bank at 425 N. Spence Ave. and been sentenced to probation.
Leon Vinson Jr., 18, of South John Street had been charged with two counts of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. The bank was robbed Oct. 22.
Vinson was sentenced by Judge Jerry Braswell to 11-14 months in prison, suspended on condition that Vinson complete two years of supervised probation, enroll in school and pay a $500 fine and court costs.
A co-defendant, Octavius M. Broadhurst, 17, of Maple Street, had accepted a similar plea arrangement. He also pleaded guilty to conspiracy and was sentenced to probation. Four other defendants, including Quentin Bryce Barnes, 19, of North George Street, have not been tried. Barnes was charged with robbing the same bank in May. He pleaded guilty to a lesser offense, was sentenced to time served awaiting sentencing and put on probation.
Missing
A 15-year-old girl has been reported missing by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Shakeia Lahay Litaker of 823 Dollard Town Road was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 125 pounds with brown hair in a ponytail, brown eyes and a slim build.
When she was seen last at 7 p.m. Friday, she was wearing a green and orange shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
