Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A shotgun with ammunition, two televisions, a DVD player and movie DVDs, a chest with coins, a video cassette recorder and 100 music compact discs were stolen Wednesday from a home in the 100 block of Wharton Lane. The resident, John Robert Hoskins, said the stolen property was worth more than $2,285.
*A freezer and a DVD player were stolen between March 24 and Wednesday after a door was damaged at a home in the 1600 block of Big Daddy's Road. Joel Jerome Smith estimated the value of the stolen property at $375 and damage at $75. About $500 worth of food also was damaged.
*A blue 1999 moped was stolen Wednesday night from a parking lot in the 2700 block of U.S. 117 South. William Cornell Poole of Dudle, said it was worth $900.
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating these reports:
*Otis Davis of Evergreen Avenue was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital for gunshot wounds he received around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. He told police he was walking along North Jefferson Street when a motorist pulled up and started shooting at him. He was struck twice, in the hand and in the leg. The report said several bullets also hit a nearby apartment building, doing $250 worth of damage to two windows and two walls to a bedroom.
*Police officer Steven Powers was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a woman he was trying to arrest attacked him with a fork shortly after midnight this morning at her home on West Grantham Street. Justine Jones Wellington, 64, was charged with failure to produce a drivers license and registration card, resisting arrest, reckless driving and assaulting an officer. Bond was set at $1,000.
*Someone broke into the DART office at 1302 W. Ash St., damaged the cash register and took items valued at $1,621. Initial damages were estimated at $350.
*An unknown woman got away on a 2005 Toyota Highlander after she was seen leaving Wednesday afternoon with $429 worth of tooth-whitening strips from Wal-Mart at 1002 N. Spence Ave.
*Laura Marie Miller of Chanute Road reported the theft of a car early today from 1927 N. William St. The silver 2002 Pontiac Grand Am, owned by Steven Michael Vanhort of the same address, was valued at $10,000.
*Robin Riddle of Old N.C. 111 South said someone broke into her 2000 Nissan Frontier while it was parked at the Goldsboro Family YMCA some time after 6 p.m. Wednesday and took her purse. The purse and its contents were valued at about $58.
*William Oscar Kornegay of McCullen Street, Mount Olive, said someone stole the radio and CD player from his 1994 Plymouth Acclaim while it was parked at 604 U.S. 70 Bypass. He estimated the value of the stolen items at $190. There no signs of damage to the vehicle.
Missing
Rhodes
A 34-year-old woman from Dudley has been missing for two weeks, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported today. Tharna Williams of 138 Running Deer Circle was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 185 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Ms. Williams, who has a twin sister, has not been seen since 4:50 a.m. on March 17. She has a scar on her left cheek near her eye and suffers from Bell's Palsy, a twitching of the eye. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
Accident
Goldsboro police charged Elizabeth Lancaster Braswell of Kinston with running a stoplight after an accident at the intersection of Spence and Royall avenues. Total damages were estimated at $7,000.
