Poetry month

I doubt that I will ever see, a month like April at the library.

Next month will be "Poetry Month" at the Wayne County Public Library, so dust off your doggeral or write some new verse and join in.

A poetry reading and open mike will be held Saturday, April 2, from 2-5 p.m. Michelle Gallant and Ayesha Atkinson will host and perform at the event. Dr. Kustom will demonstrate T-shirt air-brush art.

A poetry-writing workshop for mothers/daughters and fathers/sons will be offered Saturday, April 9, from 2-4 p.m. It is intended for ages 10 and up. Facilitators will be Ms. Gallant, Ms. Atkinson and C.K. Goodman.

The library will show "Rappin'," which features some of hip hop's biggest names, for Teen Night. That will be Tuesday, April 12, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Teens and 'tweens have until April 23 to submit entries in the poetry contest. Poets must be ages 10-19.

"Poetry in the Park" will be Sunday, April 24, from 2-4 p.m. at the gazebo in Herman Park.

And a poetry slam for middle and high school teams will be Saturday, April 30, from 2-4 p.m.

For more information on any of those events, call Sue Geiger at 735-1824, Ext. 4.

Bloodmobile

The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive Monday from 2:30 to 7 p.m. at Spring Creek Elementary School. Donors will receive a coupon for a free car wash.
