Accidents
The N.C. Highway Patrol investigated these wrecks:
*At 2:20 p.m. Monday, a 1998 Nissan ran the stoplight at the intersection of U.S. 117 and Old Mount Highway and struck a 1993 Cadillac, reports said. Both vehicles had $2,000-$3,500 in damage, and the Cadillac driver, Paul Pearsall of Dudley, was treated for injuries. The Nissan's driver, Latricia Daniele Smith, 39, of Smith Logging Lane, was charged with failure to stop at a stoplight.
*Billy Ray Benton, 65, of N.C. 222, told the Highway Patrol that he passed out while driving on N.C. 111, near St. John Church Road, around 1 p.m. Tuesday. His vehicle went off the road and struck a tree, causing $2,000 in damage. Benton was not charged.
Crossing damaged
Railroad crossing gates on Central Heights Road were destroyed by a truck Wednesday afternoon, Goldsboro police reported.
Lee-Roy Daniel, 58, of Creedmoor, was turning his truck from Oak Forest Road onto Central Heights Road when it collided with the railroad crossing pole and arm, knocking it down. The gate was a $20,000 loss.
The 2005 truck, belonging to Chile Pepper Transport Inc., had $2,000 in damage.
Woman cut
A Goldsboro woman was injured during a fight between neighbors early this morning, police report.
Chasity Wilson, of Edgerton Street, was arguing with a neighbor around 2:30 a.m. when a scuffle broke out, reports said. She was cut on her arm by a box cutter but not seriously injured. Three vases in her home, worth about $30, were also broken.
Police arrested Denise Latoya Cooper, 16, of Edgerton Street, and charged her with assault with a deadly weapon. She was put in the county jail under $300 bond.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*John Kyle, of Lockhaven Drive, told police that he was robbed Wednesday afternoon of $25 by a man to whom he gave a ride. The suspect was described as a black male, in his 40s, with prominent razor bumps on his face. He was wearing a black hat, tan jacket and white shirt and fled from the parking lot of Berkeley Mall.
*Renee Latrese Davis reported the theft of a stereo, worth $60, from her apartment in the 1700 block of Maple Street.
