Hayden lands a part
Alex Hayden of Goldsboro participated in the taping of an episode of the WB television series, "One Tree Hill," this week.
He played the role of a car salesman.
Hayden used to act when he worked for Universal Studios in Orlando, Fla., but left acting about 10 years ago to do radio broadcasting for NASCAR.
Two weeks ago, he and his girlfriend were returning from a trip to Myrtle Beach when they decided to stop in Wilmington so she could see the Screen Gems studio.
Afterwards, at her encouragement, he called the studio, gave it a brief verbal resume, and the studio arranged for him to meet with Fincannon and Associates Inc. casting company.
He then went to Mexico to cover a race, returned to find he was wanted for a scene in an upcoming episode, and filmed two days later.
It is not yet known what date that episode will air.
Get it?
What does Edward Bloom say is a methaphor?
"Cows and sheep mostly." Get it ? Methaphor, meadow for.
Tough crowd.
Well, Sue Guy, Wayne County's human resources director, thought it was funny and lucky, too, since the answer won a copy of the "Big Fish" DVD autographed by Daniel Wallace.
The News-Argus held one last drawing, which included everyone who entered the Wayne County Reads trivia contest this year. The winner of an autographed novel is Carolyn Aycock of Goldsboro.
Thanks to everyone who played this year.
