ALBERTSON -- A fire in the Outlaws Bridge community of Duplin County on Friday afternoon destroyed an abandoned frame house and spread to the nearby home of a woman with four children.

But no one was at home and no one was injured.

Kurt Price, a firefighter with the Albertson Volunteer Fire Department, said that by the time firefighters arrived the fire had already spread to the mobile home.

One end of the mobile home was damaged. Assistant Duplin County Fire Marshal Linwood Kennedy said he didn't know how the fire started. He estimated damage to the mobile home at $5,000.

The abandoned house and the land on which the mobile home stood is owned by Dwight Hill Jr. The occupant of the mobile home is Alma Delia Reyes. The Pricetown and Pleasant Grove volunteer fire departments provided mutual aid.
