Computer class at Boys & Girls Club

MOUNT OLIVE -- A survey of the parents of active members of the Boys & Girls Club showed more than 75 percent of the parents were not computer literate and did not understand the basic function of a computer.
"In today's technological society that places them at the end of the line," said Mary Ann Dudley, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County. "In our quest to make every child that attends the club computer and Internet literate, we also want to extend the service to interested parents."
The Boys & Girls Club has played an integral role in the Mount Olive community for years, she said. It provides daily programs and services to young people ages 6 to 18. The Club is open five days a week from p.m. until 6 p.m. with programs that emphasize character and leadership development, education and career enhancement, health, and life skills, the arts, and sports, fitness and recreation.
