Crime of
the Week
A break-in at the Bojangles restaurant on N.C. 111 South has been selected by Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers as this week's "Crime of the Week."
When Goldsboro police arrived at the restaurant at 3:35 a.m. on Jan. 1, they discovered that it had been entered and an undetermined amount of money had been stolen from a safe.
Anyone with information on this break-in or any other crime in Wayne County was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous, and they may be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000, if their information leads to arrests in felony cases.
Third teen
is charged
A third teen-ager was arrested Tuesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with four felony offenses in connection with residential break-ins in the Marsh Landing subdivision off Buck Swamp Road.
Jonathan Nathaniel Brooks, 18, of Dollard Town Road was charged with breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods and attempted breaking and entering. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $26,000 secured bond.
Detective Sgt. Shawn Harris said some stolen property has been recovered.
Accidents
Six people were injured and damages were estimated at $69,425 in nine recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, law enforcement officers reported.
*Two people were injured in a two-car collision at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday on N.C. 111 near Spring Bank Road, the Highway Patrol said. A passenger in one car, Adarian Vann, 8, of Bennett's Bridge Road, Mount Olive, and the other driver, Jimmy Lashune Mitchell, 37, of Pink Hill, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Machelle A. Vann, 30, of Bennett's Bridge Road, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Damages were set at $4,500.
*A driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. 117 Alternate and Brook Terrace Drive, the Highway Patrol said. Junior Lee Johnson, 39, of N.C. 55 East, Mount Olive, was released after emergency-room treatment. Thomas Calvin Smith, 60, of Brook Terrace Drive, Dudley, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Damages were put at $3,800.
*Damages were estimated at $5,500 in a two-car collision at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday at North James and West Grantham streets, a Goldsboro police report said. Jimmy Horton, 39, of Fussell Street, was charged with a yield violation.
*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 6:22 p.m. Sunday on Rosewood Road near Valley Drive, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Deborah H. Hankins, 42, and her passenger, Linwood Hartley, 47, both of Rosewood Road, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Hankins was charged with exceeding a safe speed.
*A driver from Mount Olive was injured in a one-car wreck at 10 a.m. Sunday on Pikeville-Princeton Road near Hooks Road, the Highway Patrol said. Svetlana Saveski, 26, of North Breazeale Avenue was listed today in stable condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokesman said. Troopers said Ms. Saveski's eastbound car had run off the right side in a curve, then had come back on the road, had run off the right side again, struck a ditch and overturned. She was charged with exceeding a safe speed. Damage was set at $4,500.
*Damage was put at $6,025 in a one-car, hit-and-run wreck at 6 a.m. Sunday on Antioch Road near Big Daddy's Road, the Highway Patrol said. The car had run off the right side and struck a ditch and a mail box. The car was registered to Salatiel Carreno Aguirre of Antioch Road, Pikeville.
*Both cars were destroyed in a hit-and-run collision at 2:21 a.m. Sunday on Potts Road near Barnwell Drive, the Highway Patrol said. Both drivers fled. The cars, valued at $10,000, were registered to Maribel E. Trejo of Dixie Greene Lane, Snow Hill, and Alberto Ramos of Timothy Street, Dudley.
*Damages were estimated at $10,100 in a wreck at 11 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 13 near Providence Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Douglas Alan Harrell, 21, of Hood Drive, reported the wreck Sunday and was charged with reckless driving, hit and run and driving left of center.
*Damages were estimated at $20,000 in a two-truck crash at 10:45 a.m. Friday at U.S. 70 and Claridge Nursery Road, the Highway Patrol said. Christopher Wayne Baker, 28, of Raleigh, was charged with failure to reduce speed. The cement truck that Baker was driving for CPI Concrete Placement of Fort Mill, S.C., collided with a tractor-trailer operated by Johnnie Marvin Ireland, 48, of Oriental.
Thefts
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*Air tools, a welder, a battery charger, a floor jack and a tool box with tools were stolen between Sunday and Tuesday from a barn in the 1700 block of Old Smithfield Road, sheriff's deputies said. The thief had damaged a door to get inside. The owner, Crystal D. Lane of Goldsboro, estimated the value of the stolen property at $2,550 and damage at $100.
*Computer equipment and a flight jacket were stolen after a door was damaged at a home in the 700 block of Pecan Road, deputies said. The resident, A.M. Kimbrough, put a $159 value on the stolen property.
*A collection of state quarters was stolen between Tuesday and dawn today after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Cleatus Drive, deputies said. The resident, B.F. Harper, said the collection was worth $25 and set damage at $200.
*About $70, a desk drawer and dog food were stolen between Monday and Tuesday after a door was damaged at Rick's Used Tires, Goldsboro police said. The other property was valued at $54. Damage was set at $100.
Larceny charge
A 35-year-old man from Wilmington was arrested Tuesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with felony larceny by an employee.
Timothy Bradley Bradshaw was found in the New Hanover County Jail, where he was being held on a probation violation. He was returned to Wayne County and charged with the crime. His secured bond was set at $5,000.
Missing
A 15-year-old Goldsboro boy was reported missing Tuesday by relatives to Goldsboro police. Terrance Lamont Graham of 1035-A Lincoln Drive was described as black, 5-feet-9 and 145 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. He was seen last at 2 p.m. March 2. No clothing description was available. Anyone with information on Graham's location was asked to call police at 705-6572.
