Accidents

Six people were injured and damages were estimated at $26,500 Thursday in four traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.

*Three people were injured and damages were estimated at $12,000 in a two-car collision at 1:35 p.m. Thursday at West Grantham and North Carolina streets, Goldsboro police said. One driver, Rosemary Simon, 50, of Timothy Street, Dudley, and the other driver, Iris Jean Smith, 33, and her passenger, Ancila Smith, 11, both of North Taylor Street, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Ms. Simon, who was going south, was charged with a safe-movement violation after her car collided with Ms. Smith's eastbound auto, police said.

*A Goldsboro driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 12:30 p.m. Thursday on Wayne Memorial Drive near Lockhaven Drive, police said. Emily Wilson, 28, of Fairview Circle was released after emergency-room treatment. The other motorist, James R. Everett Jr., 77, of Johnson Branch Road, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end crash. Damages were set at $1,000.

*Damages were estimated at $9,000 in a two-vehicle wreck at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at N.C. 111 and N.C. 55, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Diaz Romula Velasquez, 32, of Linda Lane, Albertson, was charged with a yield violation. Troopers said Velasquez's southbound car collided with a westbound pickup truck, driven by Linwood Earl Summerlin, 57, of Camp Jubilee Road, Seven Springs.

*Two people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at 6:55 p.m. Thursday at N.C. 55 and Grantham School Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Shequita Danielle Peacock, 23, and her passenger, Taliyah Peacock, 4 months, both of Newton Grove, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Peacock was traveling east on N.C. 55. A southbound driver, John Edward Lichthardt, 44, of West James Street, Mount Olive, was charged with a yield violation. Damages were set at $4,500.

Investigations

Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:

*A combination radio and compact disc player, a case with 52 CDs and a checkbook were stolen between Wednesday and Thursday after a car window was smashed in the 1700 block of East Beech Street, police said. The owner and resident, Walter Franklin Clayton, estimated the value of the stolen property at $355 and set damage at $150.

*A tote bag, an umbrella and other property was stolen Thursday after a vehicle window was shattered in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Sunburst Drive, police said. The owner, Ralph Steven Wiliford of Pikeville, estimate the property's value at $101 and damage at $200.

*About $200 was stolen Thursday after a door was damaged at an apartment in the 2100 block of Courtyard Circle, police said. The resident, Shanika Lenelle Jones, set damage at $180.

*A portable DVD player was stolen Thursday after a car window was broken in the 100 block of South Berkeley Boulevard, police said. The owner, Ellen S. Massengill of Goldsboro, put a $300 value on the player and set damage at $100.

*A kerosene heater was stolen between Sunday and Thursday from a shed in the 500 block of East Walnut Street, police said. The thief had damaged a door to get the heater that was valued at $130. The resident, V. Moses, estimated damage at $50.
