The 916th Air Refueling Wing's Job Control Service/Helpdesk, staffed by members of the 716th Communications Flight, has won the Air Force Reserve Command's Gen. Edwin Rawlings Award for 2004.
The members of the 716th Communications Flight are a trained team of computer technicians who manage and staff the service desk on unit-training assembly weekends.
The 916th Air Refueling Wing has 12 buildings at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. The team re-imaged and configured 437 new computers for the wing to meet Air Force standards and replaced old equipment and software.
The team also installed and configured 21 network printers at several buildings throughout the 916th's faciltieis, allowing multiple users to have access to print mission-critical documents and provide maximum utilization and efficiency of resources.
Because the 916th Job Control had not previously existed, the team had to conceive, develop and initiate the competition project from scratch. All items, no matter how small, had to be researched, developed and obtained.
The team also dramatically improved working relations with the active duty 4th Communications Squadron, allowing the team to obtain needed training and reducing the 4th Communications Flight's overall workload.
