Wayne man dies in accident

A Wayne County man was killed in a traffic accident Friday morning in South Carolina.
Leslie Herring, 29, of 624 Sheridan Forest Road, was killed when the truck he was driving for the Pate-Dawson Co. of Goldsboro was involved in a single-vehicle accident on I-95 near Manning, S.C.
Company officials said Friday that another employee was riding in the truck at the time but the employee was not identified.
Herring was the son of Gail Brogden Herring and the late Louis Herring. He was a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and Chowan College. He was a member of the Goldsboro Moose Lodge and served as a referee and umpire at many sporting events in the Wayne County area.
Funeral services will be held today at 6 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel.
