Wayne has new agriculture agent

Kevin Johnson has joined the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Center as an agricultural extension agent. He will be responsible for educational programs in tobacco, field crops and pesticide application.
Johnson spent the past seven years as a regional agronomist for the state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
He was raised on his family's farm in Lincoln County and received his bachelor's and master's degrees in agronomy from North Carolina State University.
Johnson has worked as an agricultural extension agent in both Tyrrell and Caldwell Counties from 1992 till 1998.
He and his wife, the former Jennifer Gray, live in the Patetown community. They have two children, Bryan and Sabrina.
