LAGRANGE -- The fatal shooting of a LaGrange man remains under investigation today by LaGrange police.
The victim, Kenneth Rouse, 49, was found dead Wednesday night in his backyard at 201 Ed Herring Road.
Neighbors heard gunshots at about 7 p.m. Police responded to a 911 call and found the body. Rouse was pronounced dead by rescue personnel.
LaGrange Police Chief John Sullivan could not be reached for comment today. But he told reporters Thursday that his officers were following up leads. He declined further comment.
An autopsy was to be performed on the body today to determine the cause of death.
A 10-year-old neighbor told the Kinston Free Press that he had heard and argument between two men and then gunshots. Rouse lived alone in the modest brick home, neighbors said.
The Lenoir County Sheriff's Office is assisting in the investigation.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Chief Sullivan at 252-566-3400.
