Ordinance review
An informational meeting to review the proposed Unified Development Ordinance is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 27, at 10 a. m. in the City Council Chambers, upstairs in City Hall.
The ordinance will replace existing regulations pertaining to subdivision, zoning, stormwater management and illegal discharge for the city as well as its extraterritorial jurisdiction. The public is invited to attend.
Building inspector caught in pajamas
Ed Cianfarra, the city's chief building inspector, was caught off-guard Tuesday during a slide presentation to the council of dilapidated houses.
A picture of Cianfarra in Square Bob Spongepants pajamas was sandwiched between pictures of deteriorating buildings. Cianfarra quickly moved past the picture, but not before the City Council had a good chuckle at his expense.
Retiring City Manager Richard Slozak slipped the slide into the presentation.
"I told you to use the word frugal instead of cheap," Slozak said, referring to a speech Cianfarra made about the city manager at a retirement party last week.
