Dennis Hill, a long-time Goldsboro newsman, has been appointed city editor of the Goldsboro News-Argus.
Hill has held nearly every job in the News-Argus newsroom. He joined the newspaper as a reporter in 1986 and worked his way up to the position of assistant news editor.
In 2003 he left for a year to work briefly on newspapers in Fayetteville and Kinston and to attend to some family business in Lenoir County. He rejoined the News-Argus staff as a photographer a year ago.
Hill, who is 50, is an honors graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before joining the News-Argus for his first tenure, he worked at newspapers in Kinston and Winston-Salem.
He has a son, Zachary Hill, a student at East Carolina University.
As city editor, Hill will be responsible for the coverage of local news. He succeeds Don McLoud. McLoud left the News-Argus after nine years to become managing editor of the Press and Standard, a newspaper in Walterboro, S.C.
