More flu shots
The Wayne County Health Department will hold another flu shot clinic on Tuesday, with 800 vaccines available to those considered high risk.
Clinic hours will be 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. James Roosen, health director, asked that no one arrive before 7 a.m. All parking spaces surrounding the county office building will be reserved for the flu-shot clinic.
Roosen said the criteria for those considered high-risk recently expanded to include adults over 50 years old as well as those who have contact with people in the high-risk group.
Two time-saving measures will also be used, Roosen said. Numbers will be given to everyone in line, with a time to return for the shot.
Medical forms can also be downloaded in advance by visiting the Health Department Web site at www.wchd.net. Print out and complete the two required forms and bring them as well as proof of ID.
Base decals expire
It's that time of year when vehicle decals for Seymour Johnson Air Force Base are expiring by the thousands.
In an effort to reduce long lines at the base's visitor center, personnel with 2004 vehicle decals will be given until Feb. 15 to renew them. After that, people with 2004 decals will need to get a vehicle pass from the visitor center to enter the gates.
Vehicle decals can be renewed at the visitor center, which is open Sunday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to midnight.
You must have a current Department of Defense ID card, driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance to obtain a new decal. In addition, vehicles must be registered to the person requesting the decal. If not, have a power of attorney or a notarized letter from the owner stating you may register it for them.
