More than 600 children were treated to gifts of fruit, candy, toys and clothes at the annual Empty Stocking Fund party Saturday.
It was the 93rd straight year that generous donations from the community have made the party possible.
Santa Claus was on hand to visit with the youngsters who also were treated to Pepsis from the Pepsi Corp. and were entertained by Rex the Almost Amazing Clown and his sidekick, Trouble. Face painting was also done by clowns Millie and Doodlebug.
Donations this year have reached record levels. Through Tuesday, donations totaled $38,758. Money received over the cost of the party, is being used to help additional needy families and children in the community this week.
The News-Argus will continue to take contributions at its office on Berkeley Boulevard. They can also be mailed to the News-Argus at P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, 27532.
