Bloodmobile
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a Bloodmobile Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Community Center. Donors will receive a free Red Cross t-Shirt.
Five charged with DWI
Goldsboro police have charged five people with driving while impaired during the third week of the semi-annual "Booze It and Lose It" campaign against drunken driving.
Police conducted six checkpoints and 47 saturation or random patrols during the period ending Sunday. The campaign continues through Jan. 1.
Police also issued 52 citations for seat-belt violations and eight for child-seat violations. They also filed 27 charges for speeding, 32 for driving with a revoked license and 99 for other traffic offenses.
Twenty-two drug charges and 32 other criminal charges also were filed, one stolen vehicle was recovered and two fugitives were arrested during the week.
Bus holiday schedule
The Goldsboro Wayne Transportation Authority will close at 2 p.m. on Dec. 24 for the Christmas holidays. Passengers requesting van service for Dec. 24 must call and schedule transportation on Thursday, Dec. 23, no later than 2 p.m. Van service will not be provided after 1 p.m. on Dec. 24. The bus service will operate from 5:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The Authority will also be closed on Saturday, Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Passengers requesting van service for Sunday, Dec. 26, must call and schedule transportation on Thursday, Dec. 23, no later than 2 p.m.
On Sunday, Dec. 26, the Authority will operate its van service on its normal schedule.
On Saturday, Jan. 1, the Authority will operate on a holiday schedule. The bus service will operate from 9:45 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. and the van service will operate on its normal schedule. Passengers requesting van service must call and schedule transportation on Friday, Dec. 31, no later than 2:30 p.m.
