Holiday Planner

Today's print edition of the News-Argus includes the Holiday Planner.

The annual guide provides information on local holiday events, ideas for gifts and other information.

Seven Springs parade

The Seven Springs Christmas parade will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The town will also continue its tradition of lighting lanterns along the streets in town. They will be lit every weekend after the parade until the week of Christmas. That week, the town plans to light them every night.

Farfour ceremony

The refurbished tennis courts at Herman Park will be named after John Allen Farfour in a special ceremony Sunday. The public is invited.

Farfour, also known as "Mr. Tennis," founded the Eastern Carolina Junior Open in 1947 and was a founding member of the Wayne County Boys & Girls Club. He was inducted into the North Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame in 1979.

The court-naming ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at Herman Park.

Ducks Unlimited

The annual banquet of the Goldsboro chapter of Ducks Unlimited will be held Friday at Lane Tree Golf Club.

It will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:15 and auctions at 8. Tickets are $55 for adults, $75 for couples and $20 for Greenwings.

Toy run

The 16th Annual Wayne County Motorcycle Riders Toy Run will be held Sunday at Berkeley Mall beginning at noon.

At 2 p.m., the riders will drive through town to the Snack & Cue where a party will be held. All makes of bikes and trikes are welcome, as are all clubs and patches. Registration is one new toy per bike.

Toys will be given to the Lighthouse of Wayne County, the Wayne County Boys & Girls Club and local needy families. Information: 222-9665.

Parade entry deadline

Entries for the Goldsboro Christmas parade must be received or postmarked by Saturday to avoid late fees.

A representative of the Jaycees will be at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce on Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and again on Friday, Dec. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accept entry forms and fees.

Entry forms are available for pickup at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, by e-mailing the Jaycees at [email protected], by downloading from the Web site at home.nc.rr.com/goldsborojaycees/ or by calling. People may also submit an entry on line, using a credit card, by clicking the link on the Christmas Parade Information page.
