Hospice to hold open house
Home Health and Hospice Care Inc. will hold an open house Thursday in Goldsboro.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive. State Sen. John Kerr and former N.C. Reps. Phil Baddour and Carolyn Russell are also scheduled to attend.
Information will be available to the public about the various services offered by 3HC, including Medicare and hospice services.
3HC is a nonprofit organization providing home health care and home-based and in-patient hospice care. It operates nine clinical offices throughout eastern North Carolina, and the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
MOC schedules Founder's Day
MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College will celebrate 53 years of Christian higher education at its annual Founders Day event at 11 a.m. Tuesday in College Hall, with Dr. Burkette Raper giving the address.
The Founders Leadership Award, sponsored by Raper and his wife, will also be presented during the Founders Day service. Employees celebrating continued years of service to the college will also be recognized during the celebration. The public is invited.
Raper, president emeritus and director of planned giving at the college, will retire at the end of November. He was the youngest college president in the United States when he was appointed president at Mount Olive College in 1954. He was 26. He retired in 1995 and was the longest-tenured president in the country. Since 1995 he has been director of planned giving, making a total of 50 years of service to the college.

to visit college
MOUNT OLIVE -- Miss North Carolina Kirstin Elrod will visit Mount Olive College on Thursday as part of the pre-alumni weekend activities.
Miss Elrod will make an appearance at the pep rally scheduled for 11 a.m. in College Hall, at which time she will sing the national anthem. A lunch in her honor will follow at noon in the Lois K. Murphy Regional Center.
Mount Olive College Alumni Weekend is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The theme for this year's event is "Tell Your Story." For information, contact Dianne Riley at 658-2502.
