Flu-shot clinic
The Wayne County Health Department has acquired another 600 flu vaccines and will offer a flu shot clinic next week.
The vaccines will be available to individuals considered high risk. Clinic hours will begin Tuesday, Nov. 16, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Individuals are required to bring proof of identification and health coverage cards. They will also be asked to sign a form verifying they are high risk. There will be a $15 charge for the flu vaccine to those who do not have Medicare or Medicaid.
Salvation Army Christmas
The Salvation Army is taking applications this week from families who want to take part in the annual Christmas program for food and toys. Senior citizens are also being allowed to apply for food.
People should come to the Salvation Army's building, 610 N. William St., any day between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday.
Applicants need to bring picture ID; proof of income, such as pay stubs, verification of AFDC or food stamps eligibility; any regular monthly bills for October and November, including rent receipts, cable, phone and utility bills; and birth certificates and Social Security cards or Medicaid card/letter for any child living permanently in the residence.
That's no B-25!
A plane at the Wings Over Wayne Air Show was misidentified in a Monday photograph of the News-Argus.
It was a B-26, not a B-25. The News-Argus apologizes for the error.
Fair share finalist
Lynn Sasser, an employee with Park Designs, is the 10th finalist in United Way's Fair Share Challenge.
To qualify for the last weekly drawing to be eligible to win a new truck from Goldsboro Chrysler Dodge Jeep, a donor must contribute his fair share, which is one hour's pay per month or 1 percent of annual salary to United Way of Wayne County.
The last drawing for the 11th finalist will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Goldsboro Jeep.
The final drawing will be held Nov. 20 when the 11 finalists pick keys in the order that they qualified. The finalist whose key starts the truck will win.
