Three teens robbed
Two people were arrested before dawn today by Goldsboro police and charged with robbing three Goldsboro teen-agers in a home in the 300 block of Brownrigg Street.
Jamal Clerfoot, 20, and Joslyn Gabrielle Moore, 18, both of Brownrigg Street, were charged with armed robbery. Clerfoot was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $30,000 secured bond. Ms. Moore was jailed in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
The three victims told police that they went to the home at about 7:20 p.m. When they were leaving, several people approached the passenger side of their vehicle and pointed weapons at them, Investigator Dale Foster said.
Then the robbers demanded that the three teens get out, lie on the ground and empty their pockets, the report said. The robbers also searched the victims' vehicle as two women held firearms on the teens, the report said.
One victim, Christopher James Cooper, 18, was robbed of 40 compact discs and personal papers. Another, Bradley Thomas Deaver, 17, was robbed of a cell phone and $17. The third, Brandon Scott Barrow, 19, was robbed of $100.
When police responded to the home, two suspects drove by. Clerfoot and Ms. Moore were stopped several blocks away and arrested without incident, police said.
Foster was assisted by Investigators K.S. Harris and Trey Ball and A-shift officers. Foster said more arrests are possible.
Drug charges
Five people have been arrested by Wayne County authorities and charged with drug violations.
*Kelvin Tyrone Hagans, 20, of Old Grantham Road was charged by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad with possession of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling drugs and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 secured bond.
*Curtis Lee Hardy, 24, of Durham Lake Road, Dudley, was charged by the Drug Squad with misdemeanor possession of marijuana at Hagans' home. He was jailed in lieu of a $500 secured bond. Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers assisted in the arrest of Hagans and Hardy.
*Aaron David Kinsey, 19, of Fussell Street was arrested by Goldsboro police on outstanding warrants for felony possession of marijuana and three misdemeanors, second-degree trespass, injury to personal property and affray. He was jailed in lieu of a $28,000 secured bond.
*Dylan J. Acres, 25, of Tommy's Road was charged by police with felony possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. His secured bond was set at $5,000.
*Geraldine Brown, 34, of Colonel Warrick Drive, Dudley, was charged by police with felony possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was jailed in lieu of a $2,000 secured bond.
Car hits bus
Six people were injured and damages were estimated at $30,300 in six recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A Goldsboro-Wayne County Transit bus was involved in a collision with a car at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday on North Center Street between Mulberry and Ash streets, Goldsboro police said. Neither driver nor any of the six bus passengers was injured. The driver of the car, Hattie Bullock, 80, of East Elm Street, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said she was backing from an angled parking place and her car collided with the bus. The bus was operated by James Grady Best, 51, of Beverly Drive. Damage to each vehicle was set at $500.
*A driver was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday at East Chestnut and South John streets, police said. Gene Roger Lancaster, 49, of U.S. 13 North was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Police said a westbound sport utility vehicle, driven by Betty F. Rouse, 47, of South Church Street, Mount Olive, collided with Lancaster's oncoming eastbound car. Ms. Rouse was charged with a yield violation. Damages were put at $2,800.
*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $12,200 in a three-vehicle collision at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday on North Berkeley Boulevard near Ridgecrest Drive, police said. Stefanie Suzann Ammons, 20, of West Lockhaven Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. She also was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. The other drivers were identified as Ladd Mallard Jr., 22, of Lime Street and Veronica Leigh Fuller, 34, of Deen Street, Mount Olive.
*Both drivers were injured in a wreck at 7:15 p.m. Friday at Indian Springs and Farmer roads, the Highway Patrol said. Scott Alan Schultze, 38, of Outlaw Road, Dudley, and Linwood Allen Carter, 56, of Tranquil Lane, Mount Olive, were released after emergency-room treatment. Schultze was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. The southbound vehicle that Schultze was driving collided with Carter's eastbound pickup. Damages were put at $3,200.
*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $7,600 in a two-car crash at 4:42 p.m. Thursday at Bill Lane Boulevard (N.C. 581) and Arrington Bridge Road, the Highway Patrol said. Marie C. Teachey, 46, of W.P. Brogden Court, Dudley, was released after emergency-room treatment. The other motorist, Leland Wilson, 51, of Southwinds Drive, Dudley, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end crash.
*A driver was injured in a one-car wreck at 2:36 p.m. Thursday on Pineview Cemetery Road near N.C. 55, the Highway Patrol said. Antonio Martinez, 25, of Zion Church Road, Mount Olive, was admitted, treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was charged with driving left of center after the car ran off the left side and struck a ditch and a tree. Damage was fixed at $3,500.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A driver left his key in his car's ignition Monday at his home on West Hooks River Road and discovered Tuesday that the four-door, blue 1999 Toyota Corolla was gone, Goldsboro police said. Jose Santiago Lopez Nataren said his car was worth $4,000.
*Video-game equipment and DVD movies were stolen Tuesday after a door was forced open at a home in the 100 block of Dawson Drive, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, T.J. Darden, put an $839 value on the stolen property. No damage estimate was reported.
*A total of 150 one-dollar bills was stolen Tuesday after a door was damaged at a home in Tanglewood Trailer Park on Central Heights Road, Goldsboro police said. Damage was set at $50 at Jose Vasquez's home.
School break-in
A teen-ager was arrested Tuesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with breaking into Grantham School with two younger teens.
Alan Michael Cox, 16, of Somerset Drive was charged with breaking and entering and larceny of $235, a digital recorder and snack foods between Oct. 22-25. He was released from custody to his parents.
The others, 15- and 13-year-old boys, were turned over to juvenile authorities. Detective Robert Chunn and Deputy Keith Hartzog assisted in the investigation.
