Weapons seized
Weapons were seized from students at two schools last week, but school officials did not press criminal charges against either student.
An 8-year-old was found to be carrying a pocketknife at Meadow Lane School Thursday afternoon, according to Goldsboro police. And a knife was found at 8:30 a.m. Friday on an 11-year-old at Brogden Middle School, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported.
In neither case did the student carrying the knife threaten others with it, reports said.
