And the environment
Keep Wayne County Beautiful is once again offering its Recycled Christmas Ornament Contest.
Now in its sixth year, the contest is one of the most popular activities, with 150 entries submitted last year.
Students are encouraged to submit holiday ornaments made from discarded materials such as egg cartons, spools, straws, cardboard, plastic containers, broken toys, junk mail, and newspapers.
Ornaments may be no larger than 4 inches by 6 inches and should not contain any new craft supplies.
KWCB is looking for clever and unique uses of items that normally would be tossed out. The goal of the contest is to spark creativity in the students, while they're making their environmentally friendly creations.
A cash prize is given for first, second and third place in each grade category, which includes elementary school, middle school and high school.
The ornaments must be delivered to Berkeley Mall between 3 and 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 15. The awards will be presented Nov. 18 at 4:30 p.m. A label must be attached to the ornament to include your name, phone number, grade and school. For more information, call 731-1600.
