Meadow Lane Elementary School has been selected to receive 47 azaleas for use in beautification projects. The award is part of N.C. Beautiful's annual azalea celebration, which rewards community groups for improving the landscape of the state.
"This project will add beauty to our campus and allows us to make better use of the additional resources focused on school beautification," said Celia James, school principal.
Meadow Lane was among 161 recipients selected for this year's celebration. It is now eligible for another special landscape award to be presented in three years, when $500 plus 100 additional azaleas will be presented to the group that has best maintained its azaleas and helped beautify the state.
Meadow Lane will plant its azaleas at the school, providing an attractive border around the driveway in front of the building.
