Bowles coming
Erskine Bowles, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, will return to Goldsboro at 9 a.m. Saturday.
He will speak with and greet the public at the city plaza, next to the Goldsboro police and fire complex on Center Street.
Adopt a deputy
Off-duty Wayne County sheriff's deputies will take part again in the adopt-a-deputy program on trick-or-treat night.
Sheriff Carey Winders said today that additional deputies will patrol neighborhoods and subdivisions from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, while children are trick-or-treating.
Winders said that a representative of a neighborhood or subdivision that wants to adopt a deputy should call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. until Oct. 28.
Eureka Halloween
The town of Eureka will join other towns and the county in celebrating Halloween on Friday, Oct. 29.
Trick-or-treat hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
Wok Wiz will be cooking
Shirley Fong-Torres, a spokesman for Kikkoman products, will spend several days in Goldsboro filming a cooking show and holding cooking demonstrations using eastern North Carolina food products.
Her visit coincides with Wayne County's Feast in the East celebration.
Ms. Fong-Torres has been a Chinese cooking teacher since 1973 and has been featured in the New York Times, Gourmet, Bon Appetit, Good Morning America, the Today Show and other national TV shows and publications.
She will be taping a cooking show on Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. until noon at the Wayne Center. There are a limited number of seats available for those interested in watching the taping of the show.
Tickets are $10. For reservations, call 734-2245. The Wayne Center is at 208 W. Chestnut St. in Goldsboro.
Bloodmobile
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will have a Bloodmobile on Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Chevrolet Cadillac of Goldsboro. Donors will receive a coupon for Texas Steakhouse and a coupon for a free car wash.
