Violin lessons to be offered

The Arts Council of Wayne County will offer violin lessons for adults and children in September. The instructor is Chris Ellis.
Students register for private one half-hour lessons on Mondays or Wednesdays. Classes are offered on a monthly basis. Monday classes will be held on Sept. 13, 20 and 27; times are 1 until 6 p.m. Wednesday classes will be held on Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30; times are 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The monthly fee is $60 for Monday lessons and $90 for Wednesday lessons.
Also scheduled are children's painting classes with Penny Craven. The theme is "Music in Art." Students will do paintings of a variety of musical instruments and musicians. They will talk about famous artists who have incorporated instruments and musicians into their paintings.
Dates for 4-year-olds are Thursdays, Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30. Class times are 2:15 until 3 p.m. The fee is $35.
Class times are 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. for 5- and 6-year-olds and 3:15 until 4:15 p.m. for 7- through 9-year-olds. The fee is $45.
Deadline for registration is Thursday, Sept. 2.
People can register for any of the classes or obtain further information by contacting the Arts Council of Wayne County at 736-3300. All classes will be held at the Arts Center at 2406 E. Ash St.
