Two robbed
A woman and a man were robbed in separate crimes, according to law-enforcement reports.
Teresa D. Franklin, 33, told Goldsboro police that she was robbed at about 3 a.m. today by three armed men outside of her home in the 100 block of Kathy Lane.
The robbers grabbed her purse with $100, two cell phones, an iron, clothing and a cosmetic kit. The cash, the phones and the iron were valued at more than $160. The other property, valued at $605, was recovered.
After the robbery, two robbers ran between mobile homes toward East Ash Street, and the third walked away.
One robber was described as being 18 to 20 years old, 5-feet-6 and 130 pounds with a slim build and black hair. The other two also were described as being 18 to 20. All three robbers were black, wore baseball caps, blue jeans and white T-shirts.
The second victim, a man riding a bicycle in the 200 block of Dollard Town Road, was assaulted and robbed of a handgun between 2 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
John Wellington, 43, of Dollard Town Road told deputies that a black man drove past him, then stopped in front of him, got out of the car, knocked him from the bike, grabbed the gun and fled east. He could not describe the robber further. The .25 caliber handgun was valued at $150.
Teen charged
Boykin
A 20-year-old man was arrested Wednesday by Wayne County Sheriff's officers and charged with four felonies in connection with two thefts.
Linwood Ray Boykin Jr. of Gene Arthur Lane, Pikeville, was charged with larceny by an employee, breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $70,000 secured bond.
Boykin was accused of stealing property from his employer, a pizza restaurant, and also breaking into a home and stealing other property, Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said.
Four hurt in wrecks
Four people were injured and damages were estimated at $12,500 in two recent traffic collisions in southeastern Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*Two people were injured at 3:25 p.m. Monday when their car struck a deer on N.C. 111 near Sanderson Road, the Highway Patrol said. Gloria Moore Dixon, 44, of Prayer House Lane, Dudley, and her passenger, Luisa Ramirez, 31, of Wayne Memorial Drive, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. No charges were filed. Damage was put at $5,000 to the car.
*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $7,500 in a two-vehicle collision at 11:38 a.m. Friday at N.C. 55 and Camp Jubilee Road, the Highway Patrol said. Brandi Carol Jones, 20, and her passenger, Rachel Jones, 70, both of N.C. 55 East, Seven Springs, were released after emergency-room treatment. Anayeli Roblero Diaz, 21, of Al Drive, Seven Springs, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign.
Break-ins
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*An estimated $2,150 worth of jewelry was stolen between July 3 and Wednesday from a home in the 3100 block of Old Smithfield Road. Lucy M. Davis of Goldsboro reported the theft of three antique rings, five gold rings and a silver chain. Some jewelry has been recovered at a pawn shop.
*A video camera and a laptop computer were stolen Wednesday after a door was damaged at a home in the 200 block of U.S. 13 South. The resident, Patrick B. Nunn, estimated the value of his property at $3,700 and damage at $1,000.
*A 1989 GMC pickup, a 7-millimeter rifle, a cell phone, a watch and eyeglasses were stolen Friday from the 200 block of Melvin Sauls Road. The truck, valued at $3,200, was recovered on Saulston Road, but it had been damaged. The owner, James Garland Wells, put a $785 value on the other property.
*A 2003 Polaris 700 Sportsman four-wheeler was stolen Wednesday from the 900 block of Stevens Mill Road. The resident and owner, Micah Cook, said the vehicle was worth $8,000.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Two television and video cassette recorder combinations, a DVD and compact disc player combination, six DVDs, six CDs, food, fishing gear and a gym bag were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from an apartment in the 900 block of East Mulberry Street, police said. The resident, Jerry Bailey, put a $934 value on his property.
*About 200 feet of copper tubing was stolen from an air conditioner between July 7 and Wednesday after a door was damaged at a building in the 300 block of West Walnut Street, police said. The tubing was valued at $125, and damage was set at $50.
*Two vending machines were damaged and an undetermined amount of property was stolen between Wednesday and dawn today from Arnold Wilbert Corp. at 1401 W. Grantham St., police said. A damage amount was not available.
