Shooting arrest
A Goldsboro teen-ager was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police and charged with shooting a man after taking his car last week.
Kelvin Buffalo Jr., 16, of Vanderbilt Circle was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill while inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.
Buffalo was accused of shooting Rudolph V. Kelly, 39, of Emmaus Church Road, Dudley, on Thursday, Investigator M.K. Horstmann said. Kelly was trying to get his car back from a man he had loaned it to.
The man struck Kelly twice at about 7:35 a.m., the police report said. The victim was treated for his injuries and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Buffalo was arrested in the 100 block of North Virginia Street.
Kelly later filed a stolen car report. He said the 1971 Ford had been stolen from the 100 block of Rockefeller Court. The car was recovered, Horstmann said.
Traffic accidents
A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $13,800 in three recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A driver was injured in a car-truck collision at 9:58 a.m. Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Drive and Country Day Road, Goldsboro police said. Calvin Wynn, 71, of Old Mount Olive Road, Dudley, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. The other motorist, Rosa C. Woodard, 84, of Progressive Church Road, Princeton, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. Damages were set at $3,300.
*Damages were estimated at $4,500 in a two-vehicle crash at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Braswell Road and Mert Circle, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Gentry Baker Minshew, 16, of Princeton Road, Princeton, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Troopers said Minshew was backing from Mert Circle and the sport utility vehicle that he was driving collided with a westbound car operated by Kimberly Ann Summerell, 16, of Sasser Drive.
*Damages were estimated at $6,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 2 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 117 and Lees Country Club Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Willie Bass, 69, of Flowers Road, Mount Olive, was charged with a yield violation. Troopers said Bass had pulled from the side road and his car collided with a southbound tractor-trailer, driven by Chris Clyde Russ, 38, of Bladenboro.
Burglary charge
A 30-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police and charged with first-degree burglary, a felony.
Carlos Ponti Council of Courtyard Circle was accused of barging into a woman's home Saturday on Courtyard Circle and also damaging property, police said. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these matters:
*Three jewelry boxes, a gold ruby ring, a gold necklace, a diamond pendant, a black pearl necklace and six silver dollars were stolen between Sunday and Tuesday from an apartment in the 100 block of Scott Hills Drive, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, L.G. Williams, put a value of $1,806 on the property. No sign of forced entry was reported.
*Nine cans of paint were stolen between Monday and Tuesday after a window was pried open in a home in the 100 block of Evelyn Circle, deputies said. The paint was valued at $250. Six cans, valued at $190, were recovered. The occupant was listed as George E. Bell of Dudley.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A predawn drive-by shooting today caused an estimated $250 in damages to a home in the 900 block of East Walnut Street, police said. A window was shattered in the Timothy Andrew Davis home. Four people inside escaped injury.
*A driver on Tuesday ran through a median near the New Hope Road entrance to Wayne Community College, damaging grass and uprooting bushes and shrubs, police said. The damages, estimated at $2,000, occurred between 12:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
Body found
The body of a 31-year-old Dudley man was found Tuesday in his home at 134 S. Running Deer Circle, a Wayne County sheriff's report said.
The victim was identified as Eddie Frank Jarman, who had not been seen since Friday. Detectives said today that foul play was not suspected and his death was attributed to natural causes.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death, but the results will not be known for at least two to three months, detectives said.
Correction
Vohnyelle LaQuiese Williams of Ruskin Road, Dudley, said he saw his car last at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, not 10:30 a.m., as was reported in Sunday's News-Argus. He had left the key inside and then someone stole his 1992 four-door Toyota Camry, valued at $4,000, the report said. The car was recovered Friday at Ruskin and Outlaw roads, deputies said.
