Two principal changes are recommended

Dr. Steven Taylor, Wayne County schools superintendent, has announced that he will recommend principal changes in two schools.
Keith Wright will be recommended as principal for Eastern Wayne Middle School and Dexter Evans will be recommended as principal for Southern Academy.
Gene Byrd, the current principal at Eastern Wayne Middle School, will be leaving to accept a position in another school system.
Wright previously served as assistant principal at Eastern Wayne Middle School from 1997 to 2001. He has served as assistant principal at Spring Creek High School for the past three years and was recently tapped to serve as principal at Southern Academy.
He holds a bachelor of music education degree and master's of music education degree from East Carolina University and also completed the principal's certification program at ECU.
Evans has served as assistant principal at Grantham School since 2001. Prior to working at Grantham, he taught physical education at Southern Wayne High School and served as co-athletic director.
He holds an undergraduate degree in physical education from St. Augustine's College and a master of arts in physical Eeducation from ECU. He received a master of school administration degree from North Carolina State University.
The recommendations will be presented to the board of education at the Aug. 2 board meeting.
