Drug charges
A 42-year-old man from Goldsboro has been arrested by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with two felony drug trafficking offenses.
Jonathan William Brock of Colonial Drive was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $1 million secured bond. His next court appearance was scheduled for Sept. 28.
Shooting
A 21-year-old Goldsboro man was shot early Sunday on Courtyard Circle, according to a Goldsboro police report.
The victim, Roderick Demetrius Blount of Olivia Lane, was wounded at about 1:05 a.m. between the 1000 and 1100 apartment buildings on Courtyard Circle.
Blount was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was listed today in stable condition in intensive care, a spokeswoman said. He has not described the assailant.
Robbery
A 21-year-old Goldsboro man was robbed Sunday night of clothing and other property at South Virginia and West Chestnut streets, Goldsboro police said.
Triston Cobb of East Holly Street told officers that two black men, one armed with a handgun, approached him at about 10:50 p.m. and demanded his property. They also took video-game equipment, a cell phone charger and a back pack.
Cobb pulled away from the suspects, ran home and called police.
The gunman was described a having black hair in corn rows and wearing a black T-shirt and dark blue shorts. The other man could not be described.
Five hurt in wrecks
Five people were injured and damages were estimated at $25,200 in three recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured and damages were estimated at $7,500 in a one-car wreck at 2 p.m. Sunday in a parking lot in the 2500 block of East Ash Street, Goldsboro police said. Tomeka Lavette Atkinson, 26, of Dogwood Street was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. No charges were filed after she said she was distracted by a wasp in the car and it ran off the right side into a light pole.
*Three people were injured and damages were put at $7,500 in a two-vehicle crash at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Genoa Road and Mobile Circle, the Highway Patrol said. A passenger in one car, Fletcher Williams, 28, of Church Street, Mount Olive, and the other driver, Brittany Michelle Beasley, 18, of Genoa Road, Dudley, and her passenger, Dominique Todd, 18, of Hooks River Road, were released after emergency-room treatment. Williams' driver, Terrance Levon Darden, 25, of Durham Lake Road, Dudley, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. He had started to make a right turn, troopers said, and his car collided with a northbound sport utility vehicle.
*A driver was injured and damages were set at $10,200 in a two-vehicle collision at 5:45 p.m. Thursday on Saulston Road near Wayne Memorial Drive, the Highway Patrol said. Joan L. Hinnant, 57, of U.S. 13 North was released after emergency-room treatment. The other motorist, Howard Cecil Barnes Jr., 50, of Saulston Road, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Troopers said he was backing from a driveway and the pickup collided with Ms. Hinnant's eastbound car.
Thefts
Three sports facilities were broken into and property was stolen over the weekend, according to Wayne County Sheriff's reports.
*A neon sign, game cards, a pack of cigarettes and $50 were stolen between Friday and Saturday from Buck Swamp Mini Golf at 871 Buck Swamp Road, a report said. The property was valued at $404. No sign of forced entry was listed.
*A baseball bat and a radar gun were stolen between Friday and Saturday from Eastern Carolina Athletic Park at 871 Buck Swamp Road, deputies said. The property was valued at $380. The thief may have climbed a fence to get inside, the report said.
*About 100 hot dogs and $30 were stolen between Thursday and Friday from a concession stand at the Mar Mac baseball field at 401 Old Grantham Road, deputies said. The franks were valued at $20. The thief had inflicted about $20 in damages to a window to get the items.
Break-ins
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*About $3,619 worth of property was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from a home in the 100 block of Marshall Drive near Dudley, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, Elroy Player Jr., reported the theft of shoes, three televisions, a safe, video games, jerseys, three watches, a necklace and old coins. The thief had damaged a door to get inside and then struck a wall. Damage was put at $250.
*Four rings, a necklace, a stereo system, 50 compact discs and 10 DVDs were stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Biltmore Drive, deputies said. An entertainment center also was damaged. The resident, K.R. Bradshaw, estimated the value of the stolen property at $2,570 and damage at $70.
*A 9.9 horsepower outboard motor was stolen between Wednesday and Friday after a padlock was cut, deputies said. The owner and resident, Benjie Lee Worley of Perry Farm Lane, said the motor was worth $1,800.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A cordless microphone, a microphone with a cord, a bass guitar, an amplifier, a speaker and a stenograph were stolen between Wednesday and Sunday from Greater Faith of Deliverance Temple at 108 N. James St., police said. The property was valued at $820. The thief had damaged a window to get inside.
*A DVD-VCR combination, a cordless phone, 10 movie DVDs, a radio, a cassette tape and a music compact disc were stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a window was damaged at a home in the 800 block of Marigold Street, police said. The resident, Michelle Lambert, estimated the property's value at $510 and damage at $25.
*A video-game player and two speakers were stolen between Friday and Saturday after two car windows were smashed in the 2400 block of East Ash Street, police said. The owner, Anthony Jerome Gunn of Jacksonville, said the property was valued at $360 and set damage at $275.
*Five wooden chairs and a wooden table were stolen between Tuesday and Saturday from Resource Exchange Association at 700 S. George St., police said. The property was valued at $250. The thieves also damaged two tables and a mirror during the theft. Damage was put at $369.
*A dark blue and purple scooter was stolen between Friday and Saturday from the 1300 block of Edgerton Street, police said. The owner and resident, George William Coleman, put a $2,300 value on it. The thief had broken a lock on a shed to get the scooter.
