Wanted
William "Von" Maye is wanted by Goldsboro police on felony charges of possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Maye was described as being black, 22 years old, 6-feet-2 and 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on Maye's location was asked to call Investigator M.K. Horstmann at 580-4213 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may be eligible for a cash reward, if their information leads to an arrest.
Correction
Michael Ray Pate of Snow Hill, who died in an accident near Grantham last week, was 17 years old. The News-Argus incorrectly listed his age as 27. The News-Argus apologizes for the mistake.
Co-worker charged
Preston Lee Lane, 17, of Ryan Way Street was charged with common law robbery and carrying a concealed weapon and placed under $2,500 bond.
A co-worker, Christopher Michael Peeler of Princeton, told Goldsboro police Friday night that Lane punched him in the face and robbed him of his wallet containing $300 cash. Peeler said he and Lane were in a church parking lot at 302 Ervin Drive talking with another man he does not know.
Investigations
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the following crimes:
*Leroy Randolph Jr. of Central Heights Road was treated and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital Friday after someone he knows shot him in the leg. There has been no arrest, and the person was gone when investigating officers arrived. Randolph said the person confronted him and a witness outside his home, went inside, came back outside with a handgun and shot him in the lower left leg.
*Hope Toreaha Lattner reported a first-degree burglary and misdemeanor property damage at her home on Courtyard Circle. She said a man she knows kicked in her front door, took her cigarette pouch containing $55 cash and identification cards out of her hand.
*Felicia Harrison of Rose Street told police someone stole $150 out of her purse while she was working at Family Dollar Store, 1320 W. Grantham St. The purse was being kept in an open locker inside the store.
*Ashley Marie Price of Seven Springs said somebody removed her purse while she was working at the Pizza Inn, 3009 E. Ash St. She said it contained her $91 paycheck, keys to her house and vehicle, identification cards, her debit card and checkbook.
*Meadow Lane Elementary School officials reported someone broke into the gym and used the recreational equipment some time after June 1. They said nothing appeared missing or damaged.
*Thieves took an undetermined amount of beer from a cooler from the Spur station at 301 W. Grantham St. early Saturday morning. Someone had apparently used a baseball bat to break out the front door glass, and the officer said he found the cooler doors had been pulled open.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating the following crimes:
*Vohnyelle LaQuiese Williams of Ruskin Road, Dudley, said someone stole her 1992 Toyota Camry four-door, valued at $4,000. She said the keys had been left inside the vehicle, which was last seen at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
*George Dennis Jones on U.S. 13 south of Goldsboro reported three guns stolen. The last time he saw them was in mid-March.
Traffic accidents
David Michael Gurley of Wayne Memorial Drive was charged with failure to reduce speed after Goldsboro police investigated a rear-end collision Friday afternoon in the eastbound lane of U.S. 70 between N.C. 111 South and Carriage Road. The 1994 Ford that Gurley was driving struck a 1996 GMC driven by Raymond Alan Jones of Kinston. Jones had stopped in traffic. Damage was $7,000 to Gurley's Ford and $6,000 to Jones' GMC.
Jennifer Lynn Bordeaux of Stevens Mill Road was charged this weekend with hit and run and failure to reduce speed after Goldsboro police finished investigating a May 21 collision. The only information on the report was that it occurred on Ash Street that afternoon, and the 1993 Chevrolet she was driving stuck a 1994 Buick owned by Isaiah Jackson of Oleander Avenue. Damage was $1,500 to the Chevrolet and $3,000 to the Buick.
