One-stop early voting has begun for the July 20 primary elections.
Registered Wayne County voters can visit one of three designated locations and cast early ballots. The locations and hours are:
*Wayne County Public Library, 1001 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
*Belfast Fire Station, 3212 U.S. 117 North, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
*Dudley Fire Station, 4533 U.S. 117 Business South, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The three sites are closed today but will be open Tuesday. People can also vote at all three sites from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 17, the final day of one-stop voting.
Each voter is required to state his or her name, residential address, and party. After their voter registration is verified, the voters will be required to sign an application to vote absentee. The ballot is then voted, just as during the election at a polling place, and the ballot is stored until it is counted July 20.
Voters still have the option of requesting an absentee ballot by mail. All absentee requests by mail must be by hand-written letter. The elections office must receive all voted absentee ballots by 5 p.m. July 19 to be counted.
Anyone with questions about the election is encouraged to call the Wayne County Board of Elections office at 731-1411 or visit its Web site at www.waynegov.com/boe. Sample ballots are posted on the Web site.
