Woman robbed
A woman walking on Daisy Street at about 1 p.m. Saturday was robbed of her pocketbook, cash and personal papers, Goldsboro police said.
Annie Sarah Smith, 44, of North Daisy Street told police that a man stopped his white vehicle and ordered her to give up her pocketbook. She said she saw a gun in the vehicle. The robber grabbed her property and drove away.
The robber was described as being black, about 25 years old with short hair, a light beard and brown skin.
Two hurt in wrecks
Two drivers were injured and damages were estimated at $24,200 in four recent traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*A driver was injured in a two-truck collision at 5:09 p.m. Sunday on Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass, near a Wayne Memorial Drive exit. Michael Scott Smith, 27, of South Tiffany Road was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. He also was charged with an improper lane change after his pickup collided with a pickup driven by Susan T. Volin, 56, of Potts Road, Dudley. Damages were set at $1,700.
*Damage was estimated at $13,000 in a one-car wreck on Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass, near the U.S. 117 exit. The driver had lost control of the car and it had run into the median guard rail. The car, a 2000 Honda, had been reported stolen by the owner, Kimberly Wallace of Brentwood Avenue. The car was taken from the crash site and later found abandoned on Old Grantham Road.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured at 3:42 p.m. Saturday at East Mulberry and Best streets, police said. Valerie Denine Whitted, 39, of North Virginia Street was released after emergency-room treatment. She also was charged with a safe-movement violation after her westbound car collided with a southbound auto driven by Foy E. Warren, 78, of South Claiborne Street. Damages were put at $4,500.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 at 10:30 p.m. Friday at North Berkeley Boulevard and an exit ramp to Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass. Amber Leigh Vogt, 21, of Munroe Lane, was charged with a yield violation. Police said she was making a U-turn and the sport utility vehicle that she was driving collided with a car operated by Farris C. Norris, 37, of Darby, Pa.
Teens injured
Three teenagers were injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident on Boone Hill Drive near Princeton on Friday, according to news reports.
The sheriff's department said the ATV rolled over with three girls on it.
Ashley Overfield of Princeton was flown to UNC Hospitals and was listed in fair condition Saturday, according to Channel 14 TV station.
The other injured teens were Jamie Marie Howard and Lindsey Mosely, according to Channel 14.
Shootings
Two homes in Goldsboro were damaged Sunday night by gunshots, according to police reports. No one was hurt.
A witness said a man in a crowd of about 30 people fired gunshots at about 9 p.m. at a home in the 900 block of Franklin Street. The shooter then fled. Damage was set at $150 to the R. Bingham home.
Then at about 11:10 p.m., gunshots damaged a home and a sport utility vehicle in the 300 block of South Herman Street. The resident, P.E. Boney, estimated damage at $700 to two windows and the back door of the SUV.
Drug charges
A Wayne County man was arrested Saturday by Goldsboro police and charged with two felony drug offenses.
Stephen Leon Williams, 22, of Autumn Winds Drive was charged with possession with intent to sell cocaine and possession with intent to sell marijuana. He also was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor possession of a concealed weapon. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 secured bond.
Ice cream stolen
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Thirty cartons of ice cream were stolen between Thursday and Friday from a Pet Dairy truck at the store parking lot at 1105 N. William St. The ice cream was valued at $300. The thief had unscrewed the lock on the back door and removed a chain from the truck door.
*A burglar removed a window air-conditioner and entered an apartment in the 1700 block of East Holly Street. The thief then stole a carton of cigarettes and $34 as the resident slept. Charles Atkinson said the cigarettes were worth $25.
*About 150 DVD movies and 100 music compact discs were stolen after a shed door was forced open in the 300 block of Brownrigg Street. The resident, Kenneth Ray Whitfield, put a $3,750 value on his property.
*Two televisions, a gold chain and five rings were stolen after a window was damaged at a home in the 3000 block of Thoroughfare Road. The resident, Kemone Leftdwrige, estimated the value of the property at $1,186 and damage at $75.
Vehicle thefts
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these vehicle thefts:
*A tan 1977 Dodge van was stolen Saturday from the Pinewood Square parking lot on North Spence Avenue, Goldsboro police said. The owner, Denis Darnell Turnage of Goldsboro, said he had left the key inside. The van was valued at $800.
*A red 1988 Jeep Cherokee was stolen between Wednesday and Saturday from the 4500 block of U.S. 70 East, sheriff's deputies said. The car, valued at $2,000, is owned by Lynn S. Stallings of Sherrills Ford.
*A white, four-door 1990 Ford Tempo was stolen between Saturday and Sunday from the 3900 block of U.S. 117 North, deputies said. The owner, Effie S. Kearney of Goldsboro, said the car was worth $1,000.
