Museum events
The Wayne County Museum has several educational events coming up.
Wednesday from noon to 3 p.m. will be "Making Butter," an event for ages 5-12. They will learn how to make butter by using fresh cream and a butter churn. The same event will be held on June 23 at the same time for ages 3-4.
June 30 from noon to 3 p.m. will be "Old Toys of the Past," an event for ages 5-12. There will be a display of old-fashioned toys and the children will learn to make them.
For reservations, call 734-5023. There will be an activity fee of $1 per child per activity. The fee is to cover the supply cost. The museum is at 116 N. William St. in Goldsboro.
Fair at WCC
Wayne Community College is holding a Small Business Vendor Fair open to all those who are unsure of how to do business with Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Lalie Cobb-Kornegay, associate director of the college's small business center, said the goal is to get people who have purchasing power on base to meet with companies that produce what they need. She is expecting 300 people from Seymour Johnson and at least 40 company booths.
The vendor fair will be held on Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Wayne Community College. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. The college is at 3000 Wayne Memorial Drive in Goldsboro. The event is co-sponsored by Seymour Johnson, the college's small business center and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce.

Applications accepted
Wayne County Partnership for Children is accepting More at Four applications for the 2004-2005 program year.
The free pre-kindergarten program serves eligible at-risk 4-year-olds. Children must have turned 4 on or before Oct. 16. Site locations include Bright Beginnings Child Care, Brogden Primary School, Carver Elementary School in Mount Olive, Eastern Wayne Elementary, Fremont Elementary, Happy Days Child Care, North Drive Elementary, Rhyme University, Rosewood Elementary, Royall Avenue Head Start, Small World Child Care, Spring Creek Elementary, and Wee Are the World Child Care.

Burr has chairmen
Congressman Richard Burr, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, announced Thursday that he now has local campaign chairmen in all 100 N.C. counties.
Former state legislator Carolyn Russell of Goldsboro has agreed to serve as Wayne County chairman. She was a N.C. House member for 12 years. She is also a former chair of the Wayne County Republican Party.
The Duplin County chairman is Dale Rankin, a Department of Motor Vehicles employee who lives in Pink Hill.
"Having a campaign chair in all 100 counties fulfills a promise I made from the very beginning -- to campaign in each and every county and not take a single North Carolina voter for granted," Burr said in a press release. "We've been to more than 70 counties so far and will continue to visit as many communities as possible through the election."
The county chairs will be responsible for organizing the campaign at the local level by recruiting supporters and coordinating volunteer efforts.
Bloodmobile
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a Bloodmobile Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Greenleaf Christian Church. Donors will receive a Red Cross T-shirt.
